The men's 800-meter race at the 1991 World Athletics Championships was held from August 25 to 27, 1991 in the Olympic Stadium in the Japanese capital, Tokyo .
The Kenyan defending champion Billy Konchellah became world champion . He won before the Brazilian World Cup third in 1987 José Luíz Barbosa . Bronze went to the American Mark Everett .
