The women's 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1991 World Athletics Championships took place on August 31 and September 1, 1991 in the Olympic Stadium in the Japanese capital, Tokyo .
World champion Jamaica in the cast Dahlia Duhaney , Juliet Cuthbert , Beverly McDonald and Merlene Ottey (final) and also used in the flow Merlene Frazer .
Second place went to the Soviet Union with Natalja Kowtun , Galina Maltschugina , Jelena Vinogradowa and Irina Priwalowa .
Bronze went to Germany ( Grit Breuer , Katrin Krabbe , Sabine Richter , Heike Drechsler ).
The runner from Jamaica, who was only used in the preliminary run, also received a gold medal.
