The women's 400-meter hurdles at the 1995 World Athletics Championships was held from August 8 to 11, 1995 in Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium .

The US hurdlers achieved a double victory in this competition. Kim Batten became world champion , who set a new world record in the final with 52.61 seconds. Silver went to Tonja Buford , who crossed the finish line just a hundredth of a second behind the winner. The Jamaican Deon Hemmings won the bronze medal.

Record improvement

The American world champion Kim Batten improved the world championship record and thus also the world record in the final on August 11 by 13 hundredths of a second to 52.61 s.

In addition, the third-placed Jamaican Deon Hemmings set a new national record in the final with 53.48 seconds.

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was held in four runs. The first three athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals.
