About this picture

The list of municipalities in the district of Vechta gives an overview of the ten smallest administrative units in the district . Four of the municipalities are cities . Lohne and Vechta , the seat of the district administration, are medium- sized towns , Damme and Dinklage are small towns .

Until it was renamed the Vechta district in 1939, the district was still called Amt Vechta . In the course of the Lower Saxony regional reform on March 1, 1974, the municipality of Lutten was incorporated into the municipality of Goldenstedt and the municipality of Langförden was incorporated into the city of Vechta. At the same time, the communities of Vörden , Hörsten and Hinnenkamp , which had previously been part of the Osnabrück district, became part of the Vechta district and became part of the Neuenkirchen-Vörden community . All communities in the district are unitary communities .
