List of hunting dog breeds (JGHV)
Here is the list of the German Hunting Dog Association (JGHV) recognized breeds of hunting dogs . The breed standards of the hunting dogs are deposited with the FCI . For this reason, the numbers of the standards that are used in the FCI system are given after the breed. The recognition of a breed dog but as a hunting dog by the JGHV directed not by race, but by the breeding association of the dog .
Recognized hunting dogs within the meaning of the JGHV are:
"A) Hunting dogs registered in the stud book of a JGHV and VDH breeding club / association, as well as dogs bred in the VJT and VJB (inventory protection)
b) Hunting dogs bred abroad whose breed is represented in the JGHV by a stud book keeping association and whose pedigree is marked with the FCI stamp.
c) all hunting dogs registered by a breed club / association and qualified by the imprint of the 'sparrow dog' on the registration paper. "
In addition, the JGHV also allows dog breeds to take part in its performance tests, which are traditionally hunted in their countries of origin. These include some breeds bred in the Club for Terriers (KfT) such as Border or Irish Terriers. In contrast to the "recognized" breeding associations, the KfT itself cannot become a member of the JGHV, since it also looks after breeds that are not hunting dogs for their original purpose (e.g. Yorkshire Terriers) or are no longer hunted in their countries of origin be (e.g. Airedale Terrier).
Categories
Hunting dogs in the JGHV are traditionally divided into 6 categories.
The earth dogs belong to FCI group 3, bloodhounds, bracken (hunting dogs) and pack dogs to FCI group 6, pointing dogs form FCI group 7, appering and rummaging dogs belong to FCI group 8. Another category is the Nordic dogs belonging to Laika and the Jämthund in FCI group 5, section 2.
