List of countries by net migration rate
The following list sorts countries and territories according to their net migration rate . The rate is the number of people who immigrate to a country minus the number of people who leave that country. In this case, the rate is expressed in terms of the number of migrants per 1,000 population. The migration rate is also an indicator of the social situation of a country. Hunger, drought, unemployment and war usually lead to emigration, while social prosperity, labor shortages and political stability can be reasons for immigration
The total balance of immigration and emigration of an area for a certain period is the migration balance . This in turn influences the proportion of migrants in the total population.
