IIHF European Champions Cup

The only German participant in the IIHF European Champions Cup (2005 to 2008) was the German champions Frankfurt Lions in 2005 , who took 3rd place in the group stage.

Champions Hockey League 2008/09

The German champions Eisbären Berlin took part in the 2008/09 Champions Hockey League, which was only played once and finished second in the group stage. The runner-up Nuremberg Ice Tigers failed in the qualifying tournament.

European Trophy

The European Trophy was a private competition played by the clubs involved, but it usually included the best teams from the eight strongest European countries.

Champions Hockey League

The German champions and other German teams qualify for the Champions Hockey League (since 2014) after their placement in the DEL. Up to and including 2016/17, the ERC Ingolstadt, the Adlers Mannheim, the Eisbären Berlin and the Krefeld Penguins were also guaranteed a starting place as founding clubs.

IIHF Continental Cup
