  • Johannes von Saaz , worked here from around 1373 as town clerk , notary and ( school principal ), later as protonotary in the New Town of Prague. In 1401 he wrote one of the most important German-language prose poems of the late Middle Ages: Der Ackermann von Böhmen . In October 2011, a memorial stele with a portrait bust of Johannes von Saaz was erected in the monastery garden (Capuchin Garden) .
  • Maxmilián Hošťálek z Javořice (Maximilian Hostalek von Javorice) (1564–1621), Czech politician and mayor of Saaz since 1610, sentenced to death as a participant in the Estates uprising in Prague and publicly executed on June 21, 1621 in the Old Town Square in Prague.
