Luis Fernando "Lucho" Díaz Marulanda (born January 13, 1997 in Barrancas ) is a Colombian football player who has been under contract with the Portuguese first division club FC Porto since the 2019/20 season . The striker has also been a Colombian international since September 2018 .

Díaz comes from the indigenous Wayuu people and was discovered by scouts in 2015 at the Copa Americana de Pueblos Indígenas 2015 , a football tournament held for the first time by South American indigenous peoples. He was then signed by the second division club Barranquilla FC , the farm team of the first division Atlético Junior . Díaz made his debut in the Primera B category on April 26, 2016 in a 2-1 home defeat by Deportivo Pereira . He scored for the first time for Barranquilla on May 14 in a 2-1 home win against Cúcuta Deportivo .

After performing well at Barranquilla FC, Díaz moved to Atlético Junior in July 2017 . On August 27, he made his league debut when he came on in the 3-2 away defeat by Once Caldas in the 75th minute for Matías Mier . His first goal he succeeded on September 20 at 3: 1 home win in the first knockout round second leg of the Copa Sudamericana 2017 against the Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño . He was used in the Finalización 2017 in 12 of 19 possible games, in which he remained without scoring.

In the following Apertura in 2018 , he gradually made it into the team's starting line-up and scored three goals in 19 appearances. He won the Finalización 2018 with Junior and with 10 goals he was a big part of this championship. The final of the Copa Sudamericana 2018 against Athletico Paranaense was ultimately lost. In the following Apertura 2019 he scored three goals in 17 league games and won the championship again with Junior.

On July 10, 2019, Díaz moved to the Portuguese first division club FC Porto for a transfer fee of 7 million euros , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his debut in the Liga NOS on August 10 (1st matchday) when he came on for Tiquinho Soares in the surprising 1: 2 away defeat by Gil Vicente FC in the second half . He scored his first goal a week later in a 4-0 home win against Vitória Setúbal , in which he was also able to record an assist.

National team

With the Colombian U-20 national team , Luis Díaz took part in the U-20 South American Championship 2017 in Ecuador , where he finished 6th with Colombia.

As part of the friendly international matches against Venezuela and Argentina , he was called up for the first time in the A- squad at the end of August 2018 . He made his debut on September 11th when he came on for Juan Cuadrado in the 78th minute of the 0-0 draw against the Argentines . He scored his first international goal on March 26, 2019 in a 2-1 friendly defeat against South Korea .

He also took part in the Copa America 2019 in Brazil with his home country , where they failed in the quarter-finals against Chile .
