Luis Javier Suárez Charris (born December 2, 1997 in Santa Marta ) is a Colombian football player who has been under contract with the English second division club Watford since July 2017 .

Career

Luis Suárez, born in Santa Marta , came from the youth work of Leones FC , a club that moved frequently at the time. During the 2015 season he was promoted to the first team. On October 6, 2015 (29th matchday) he made his debut in the second-highest Colombian division in the 1: 3 away defeat against América de Cali when he came on for Cristian Zúñiga Pino in the 71st minute . This season he played seven more league games.

On March 1, 2016, Luis Suárez switched to the reserve team of Granada CF on loan until the end of the 2016/17 season , which secured a purchase option for the striker. In the third-highest Spanish division he made his debut on August 21, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw against Atlético Mancha Real , when he came on for Matheus Aias in the 65th minute of the game . A week later, he scored his first goal in a 3-0 away win against CD El Ejido . This season he scored five goals in 35 league games.

In the summer of 2017, Watford FC , the partner club of Granada CF, secured the services of the striker and loaned him to Real Valladolids B-team on July 17, 2017 for the entire 2017/18 season . After making his debut in a 1-1 draw against AD Unión Adarve on matchday one (August 19, 2017) , he scored his first goal of the season on matchday two in the 6-2 away defeat against Rayo Majadahonda, as in the previous season. During this season he scored eleven goals in 34 league games.

For the 2018/19 season he was loaned to the second division Gimnàstic de Tarragona . He played his first game on August 20, 2018 in a 1-1 draw against CD Tenerife , when he was substituted on for Tete Morente in the closing stages . On October 28, 2018 (11th matchday) he scored his first goal of the season in Nàstics ' second win of the season , the 2-1 home win against Real Oviedo . The financially weakened Catalan club got relegation worries early in the season, from which the young Suárez could not free them until the end of the season. His six goals and two assists were clearly not enough in the end and Nàstic was third from bottom to relegate to the third division.

On June 21, 2019, it was announced that Suárez would remain with the Segunda División as he moved to Real Zaragoza on loan for the entire 2019-20 season. He scored a goal in his debut game on August 17, 2019 (1st matchday) against CD Tenerife. Suárez presented himself significantly more accurate this season than in the previous season and had already surpassed his value from last year with one of his seventh goals of the season in the 2-2 draw against Málaga CF on matchday 9 . He scored a total of 19 goals in 38 league appearances, making him the second most successful goalscorer in the league.
