Luna County is a county in the southern state of New Mexico in the United States . The county has 25,095 residents. The county was established on March 16, 1901. The county seat is Deming .

geography

The county covers an area of ​​7,680 square kilometers. Most of the county is flat lowlands, meadows, or wasteland. In the county are the Cook's Range , Florida Mountains and Hermanas Mountains . The county borders the counties in a clockwise direction: Sierra County , Doña Ana County , Chihuahua (State, Mexico), Grant County, and Hidalgo County .

The county had a population of 25,016 as of the 2000 census . There were 9,397 households and 6,596 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 74.30% White, 0.94% African American, 1.11% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 20.23% other races Groups; 3.08% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 57.70% of the population.
