Marquixanes ( Catalan : Marqueixanes ) is a French commune with 555 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Prades and to the municipality association Conflent-Canigó (previously Roussillon-Conflent ) founded in 2014 .
geography
Marquixanes at the foot of the Pyrenees is about 35 kilometers west-southwest of Perpignan in the area of the historic county of Conflent . The Têt flows through the municipality into the Retenue de Vinça reservoir . Marquixanes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Arboussols in the north, Vinça in the east, Espira-de-Conflent in the southeast, Estoher in the south, Los Masos in the southwest and Eus in the west.

Economy and Infrastructure
The vines in Marquixanes are part of the Côtes du Roussillon wine-growing region . There are 16 farms in the community (fruit growing, four winegrowers).
The former route nationale 116 , which was partially expanded to two lanes, runs through the municipality . Marquixanes station is on the Perpignan – Villefranche-de-Conflent line .
