Boule-d'Amont ( Bula d'Amunt in Catalan ) is a French commune with 55 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Roussillon-Conflent municipal association .

geography

Boule-d'Amont is located about 30 kilometers southwest of Perpignan and 20 kilometers north of the border with Spain in the Aspres . The Boulès flows through the municipality. Several mas belong to the municipality , for example the Mas de l'Aiguader and the Mas d'Arçós .

history

The Serrabonne Monastery belonged to the Augustinian Canons in the 11th century , who enlarged the monastery church in 1151. In 1592 Philip II of Spain handed the monastery over to the cathedral chapter of Solsona . In the course of the Peace of the Pyrenees , the now dilapidated monastery was returned to France in 1659. In 1822 the hamlet of Serrabona was incorporated. Restoration work on the monastery did not begin until 1947.

Attractions

About 3 kilometers north of the town center is the Romanesque Serrabone monastery church from the 11th century, which is classified as a Monument historique ('historical monument') and also belongs to the Sites inscrits ('registered places').

In the center of the village is the parish church of Saint-Saturnin, which also dates from the 11th century; it was entered in the additional directory of the Monuments historiques in 1972. The bolts on the entrance portal date from the 13th century. In the church there are several objects classified as monument historique, for example an altarpiece and four statues from the 18th century.

economy

Main occupations in Boule-d'Amont are viticulture and fruit growing . Local products include mushrooms, olives and tree heather for making pipes.
