church
The originally Romanesque church Église Saint-Saturnin dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries but was heavily modified in the 17th and 18th centuries. The surviving Romanesque windows in the apse have been a French cultural monument since 1936 .
The striking thing about the church are the sophisticated, triple window niches. The arches of the inner archivolts are decorated with a braid with a round bead in front. They are flanked by capitals , but the columns have not been preserved. The wedge stones of the round arches are bevelled and decorated with balls. A serrated frieze can be seen above the outer arches . Two half-columns are in front and decorate the apse. Ornaments made of balls and braids are also attached directly above the windows. The parts of the apse that were added later are made of rubble stone .
The Brangoly Dolmen is located in this part of Enveitg.
Bragoly Dolmen
The Dolmen de Bragoly has been a French cultural monument since 1936.
traffic
Enveitg is crossed by the European route 9 (corresponds to the N20 route in France ), which connects Paris with Barcelona .
Latour-de-Carol - Enveitg is the terminus of the Ligne de Cerdagne narrow-gauge railway, whichconnects Villefranche-de-Conflent with Enveitg. The train that runs on this route is often called Train jaune (yellow train) or jokingly Le canari (canary bird)by the local population because of its striking yellow paintwork. The mountain railway has become a tourist magnet. The travel time for the entire route (63 kilometers) is just under three hours.
Regional trains from Toulouse , a daily night train from Paris and individual Rodalies Barcelona trains from the Catalan capital also end at Latour-de-Carol - Enveitg station (as of 2020).
There is also a direct regional bus connection from Perpignan .
