Matthew "Matt" Thomas Tennyson (born April 23, 1990 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League since July 2019 and with their farm team , the Binghamton Devils , is used in the American Hockey League .
Career
Tennyson began his career in the 2007/08 season with the Texas Tornados in the junior division of the North American Hockey League , before playing for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the United States Hockey League the following season. Between 2009 and 2012 he was on the ice for the university team of Western Michigan University in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference , which is part of the NCAA's game operations , and was able to increase his offensive statistics there annually.
March 2012 he then received a contract from the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League , but was mostly used in the 2012/13 season with their farm team Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League and played only four games in the top division of North America. In the following year he played exclusively in the AHL, but was able to recommend himself more often from the 2014/15 season , so that he completed 27 games for San Jose in the NHL and has been an integral part of the squad since the 2015/16 season .
After the 2015/16 season, however, Tennyson did not receive a new contract in San Jose and therefore joined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent in July 2016 . In the same way, he moved to the Buffalo Sabers in July 2017 and to the New Jersey Devils in July 2019 .
