The Mauertsmühle is part of the Bavarian municipality of Berg bei Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

geography

The wasteland is located in the Upper Palatinate Jura on the Traunfelder Bach at about 463 m above sea level, about eight kilometers north of the municipality.

history

At the end of the Old Empire , around 1800, the Mauertsmühle belonged to the imperial city of Nuremberg , which administered the mill for the St. Leonhard Hospital in Lauf. The high jurisdiction exercised the Palatinate-Neuburgic Office Pfaffenhofen .

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806) a tax district Häuselstein was formed, to which, in addition to Häuselstein, Mauertsmühle, Reicheltshofen and Wünricht belonged and which also included the municipality of Eismannsberg . When the community was formed around 1810/20, the rural community of Häuselstein was formed in the district court and rent office Kastl, including the settlements of Häuselstein, Mauertsmühle, Reicheltshofen and Wünricht, and from 1820 to 1928 also the hamlet of Wappeltshofen . In 1862 the district court of Kastl and with it the municipality of Häuselstein with the Mauertsmühle came to the new district office Velburg , when it was dissolved in 1880 to the district office Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality was dissolved in 1972. The Mauertsmühle came with the other districts of Häuselsteins to the municipality of Stöckelsberg. With effect from May 1, 1978 this community was also dissolved, the districts, including the Mauertsmühle, became districts of the large municipality of Berg. The mill, belonging to the Catholic parish of Gnadenberg , was re- parish to Stöckelsberg in 1884/85 .

The mill was driven by an overshot mill wheel, which was replaced by a turbine in 1956. The sawmill attached to the mill had already been closed in 1923. When it was converted into a guesthouse in 1964, an extension was added. Not far from the mill, a stable for 25 animals was built before 2004. A riding hall and an outdoor riding arena were added.
