Häuselstein is part of the Bavarian municipality of Berg bei Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

geography

The village is located in the Upper Palatinate Jura , approx. 7 km north of the Berg municipality at the foot of the Häuselsteiner Höhe . This rises about 1 km in a north-easterly direction by 30 m to 580 m. In a wooded valley in the west some of the source streams of the Traunfeld brook arise .

history

Häuselstein is mentioned for the first time in 1397 in documents of the Kastl monastery , as "Heselstein" and "Hesenstein" (permanent house of Hesen = Hasilo = Heinrich), which are subject to tax.

In the Thirty Years' War there was great need; so in 1639 the competent Haimburg office could not report any household from Häuselstein to the Palatinate-Neuburg government in Amberg that could still have been considered suitable for troops.

Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, Häuselstein consisted of seven subordinate farms of different sizes, all of which belonged to the imperial city of Nuremberg , three farms to the local Heilig-Geist-Spital , two to the local land alms office and another two to the local cloister care office in Engelthal . The two largest courtyards were the Spitzenhof belonging to the Heilig-Geist-Spital and the Sachsenhof belonging to the Engelthal Monastery Care Office.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806) a tax district Häuselstein was formed, to which, in addition to Häuselstein, Mauertsmühle , Reicheltshofen and Wünricht belonged and which also included the municipality of Eismannsberg . When the community was formed around 1810/20, the rural community of Häuselstein was formed in the regional court and rent office of Kastl, including the settlements of Häuselstein, Mauertsmühle, Reicheltshofen and Wünricht. On May 19, 1820, the hamlet of Wappeltshofen (1832: 60 inhabitants, 8 houses) from the municipality of Eismannsberg was assigned to the community; In 1928 this place was reclassified to Altdorf . In 1862 the district court of Kastl and with it the municipality of Häuselstein became part of the new Velburg district office , when it was dissolved in 1880 it became the Neumarkt district office in Upper Palatinate . In 1871 there were nine horses and 57 cattle in the village of Häuselstein, 29 horses and 213 cattle in the municipality of Häuselstein, as well as 324 sheep, 159 pigs and seven goats. From 1876 to 1909 the community belonged to Stöckelsberg , after which it became independent again.

The village, belonging to the Catholic parish of Gnadenberg , was re- parish in 1884/85 with the Mauertsmühle to Stöckelsberg. The children attended school in Stöckelsberg; the school house there was built in 1865.

The 514 hectare community of Häuselstein was dissolved in the course of the municipal reform on May 1, 1972; all places came to the community of Stöckelsberg. This in turn was incorporated into the large municipality of Berg on May 1, 1978. The last mayor of the municipality of Häuselstein was Albert Mederer († 2011) from 1960 to 1972.
