Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (in English: " Memoirs of an imperfect angel") is the twelfth studio album by the American singer Mariah Carey . It was in September 28, 2009 Iceland Records published in other countries like the UK , the publication took place later, on 23 November 2009. Emergence

In early 2009 work began on Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel , and by February seven pieces had been completed. Producer The-Dream announced:

“I think it's about just writing an album that includes the focus of all the hits that she's had. She can't take a loss; she has to do everything to the T. So it's basically like we're trying to make a greatest hits album without using the greatest hits. "

“I think it's about writing an album that has the focus of all the hits that she's had. She cannot accept defeat; she has to pull everything through to the extreme. So we're essentially doing a greatest hits album without using the greatest hits. "

In May 2009 the title of the album was announced. Carey also worked for the first time on some songs with Timbaland , but they did not make it on the album. She also worked with Jermaine Dupri , but those pieces weren't on the album either. Carey told Elle magazine :

“Each song is its own snapshot of a moment in a story. But overall, the vibe is R&B hip-hop with a lot of slow jams. […] Each song has its own mood; some flow seamlessly into each other, and that was the purpose, and others are very different. The album has a sense of humor, [you can hear me laughing out loud at certain points], but it also has deep and introspective moments. "

“Every song has its own mood; some merge with one another, which was intended, and others are completely different. The album has a sense of humor [you can hear me laughing out loud at certain points], but it also has deep and introspective moments. "

criticism

The album received average to positive reviews. The site Metacritic According to it was better rated 69 out of 100 points than the previous albums. The website Allmusic wrote that echoes from Umbrella could be heard on the album because of the collaboration with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart . The lack of great singles is a shame for the album, but not enough that it isn't the most interesting album in a decade. The site gave the album 3.5 stars out of 5.
