Touch My Body is a song by the American pop and R&B singer Mariah Carey , from her eleventh studio album E = MC² . It's the first single on the album. The song became Carey's eighteenth number one hit in the US and put her at number 1 in week 79, beating Mariah Elvis Presley .

The producer LA Reid selected Touch My Body as their first single. Carey stated that they chose the song because “it is a sequel to my previous singles ( Don't Forget About Us , Shake It Off and We Belong Together ) and because Touch My Body is sure to build on their success. Also, the song is very cheesy, sexy and cute, so everyone will like the song ”.

Carey used many different TV shows to promote the song such as Saturday Night Live , The Hills , Jimmy Kimmel Live! , Good Morning America and the Teen Choice Awards .
Music video
The director of music video led Brett Ratner . He has directed I Still Believe , Heartbreaker , Thank God I Found You , It's like That , and We Belong Together . In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Ratner said: “Mariah is at the top musically and has never looked better… This will be our sixth video together. The Touch My Body video is the perfect combination of fantasy and entertainment with Mariah who never looked better. ” Jack McBrayer stars alongside Carey in the video that was filmed in Lenny Kravitz 's house.

The song was well received by music critics. Blender said it was "great pop." Bill Lamb said, "The song is simple, sexy, elegant and by one of the best singers of all time." Newsday said it was "her best single since Heartbreaker was released ."

The music video won a BET Award and was nominated for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards .
Mariah Carey received an extra award for Touch My Body , for the record of 18 number-one hits in the US and number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for most weeks . Carey also received several awards for Touch My Body at the American Music Awards and the 2008 World Music Awards .
Charts and chart placements
Touch My Body became Carey's 18th number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 . As a result, she reached the number 2 artist with the most number one hits in the US, beating Elvis Presley . The song was number 1 on the US charts for two weeks. It was awarded platinum by the RIAA .
In Europe, Touch My Body was ranked in the top ten in Switzerland (3rd place), Germany (6th place), Austria (10th place) and the United Kingdom (5th place).
