Music Box is the third studio album by American pop singer Mariah Carey . With more than 28 million units sold worldwide, the CD is one of the most successful of 1993.
The album is Mariah Carey's most commercially successful album. The CD and the singles released from it were sold around 30 million times worldwide. ( Without You was Carey's first - and so far only - # 1 hit in Germany.) Already the first single, Dreamlover occupied first place in the Billboard charts for eight weeks and was certified platinum. But the most famous song, a kind of "hymn" from Music Box , became Hero , which is still considered a kind of maxim for Carey and her fans - the title is one of several on the album that was created in teamwork with the successful producer Walter Afanasieff. On Music Box you can also find Carey's first cooperation with Babyface ( Never Forget You ), and Carey worked with him several times later. Music Box was Carey's international breakthrough. At the BRAVO Otto Awards 1994 Mariah was chosen as the most popular singer - with almost two thirds of all votes. In 1993 Mariah went on a concert tour, for the first time ever.
