The competition for Miss Europe 1933 was the fifth organized by the Comité pour l'election de Miss Europe . This was launched in 1928 by the French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874-1946) and organized the competition continuously until 1938. Waleffe had previously founded the competition for Miss France .

The candidates were selected in their countries of origin with the participation of major newspapers or illustrated magazines.

The event took place on May 27, 1933 in Madrid under the auspices of the Ahora newspaper . The 14 applicants met beforehand in Paris and started the trip to Madrid together. The placements of the participants are not known apart from the winner.

Charlotte Hartmann, who was elected Miss Germany in January 1933, a few days before the National Socialists came to power , took part in the election against the will of the new rulers.
