The 1982 Miss Europe competition was the thirty-first since 1948 that the Mondial Events Organization (MEO) organized. It was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and arranged the competition until 2002.

The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO. It does not always have to be the first place in your national competition.
