The 1952 Miss Europe competition was the fourth run by the Mondial Events Organization (MEO). (The event was canceled in 1951. Instead, there was a competition by a rival committee for the first time). The MEO was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and organized the competition until 2002.

The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO.

Other competitions and their effects

Until 1950, Miss Europe was the only international beauty pageant. Then there were competing ones, on top of that with global claims:

  • 1951 Miss World
  • 1952 Miss Universe
  • 1960 Miss International
  • In addition, there was a rival European competition since 1951, organized by the Comité Officiel et International Miss Europe . This was founded in 1950 by Jean Raibaut in Paris , the headquarters later relocated to Marseille . The winners wore different titles as Miss Europ a , Miss Europ e or Miss Europe International . This event lasted until 2002.

So it is not surprising that from now on it was no longer only the national winners who took part in Miss Europe, who were delegated by their organizations to Miss World or Miss Universe. In the event of overlapping dates (or even systematically), vice-misses or third-placed participants could be sent instead, who are hardly or not at all known today.

Sometimes they only appear on websites that specialize in beauty contests (such as Pageantopolis, Missosology or Lempimissit). It is not even possible to check the correct name from independent sources.
