The competition for Miss Europe 1972 was the twenty-fourth since 1948 organized by the Mondial Events Organization (MEO). It was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and organized the competition until 2002.
The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO.
The event took place on 21st June 1972 in the Casino of the Portuguese Estoril instead. There were 23 applicants.
