Miss Europe 1935
The competition for Miss Europe 1935 was the seventh held by the Comité pour l'election de Miss Europe . This was launched in 1928 by the French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874-1946) and organized the competition continuously until 1938. Waleffe had previously founded the competition for Miss France .
The candidates were selected in their countries of origin with the participation of major newspapers or illustrated magazines.
The event took place in Torquay on July 6, 1935 . The 15 applicants met beforehand in Paris and traveled from there together. The placements of the participants are not known apart from the winner.
The candidate Elisabeth Pitz from Saarbrücken was not Miss Germany, but took part under the designation Miss Rhineland / Miss Rhénanie for the Saar area. In the same year she had already won the title of Miss France and returned two hours later after tumultuous protests by the mothers of her competitors.
