The Miss Europe 1949 competition was the second run by the Mondial Events Organization (MEO). This was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and organized the competition until 2002.

The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO.

The event took place on September 17, 1949 in Palermo , Sicily . There were 11 participants.

A.June Mitchell as Miss Dominions (Great Britain) could not take part because Miss Great Britain was also in the competition.
B.As Vice-Miss Germany she was supposed to represent the title holder Inge Löwenstein , who was unable to attend. Why she did not run is unknown.
