Miss Europe 1936

The competition for Miss Europe 1936 was the eighth organized by the Comité pour l'election de Miss Europe . This was launched in 1928 by the French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874-1946) and organized the competition continuously until 1938. Waleffe had previously founded the competition for Miss France .

The candidates were selected in their countries of origin with the participation of major newspapers or illustrated magazines.

The event took place on October 30, 1936 in Tunis . There were 15 applicants. The placements of the participants are not known apart from the winner.

A.Elections for Miss Spain did not take place after 1936. Antonia Arquez had already participated in the Miss Universe in 1935 , so qualified in the previous year, possibly as Vice-Miss.
B.How Tatiana Ouchakoff qualified is unknown. She was certainly a Russian exile in Paris, allegedly the daughter of a Cossack general.
C.Ariane Gedeonova was a Russian in exile in Paris; there were no general elections in the USSR .
D. Maria Nagy had already competed for the “Danube Region” last year.

Individual evidence
