Miss Europe 2006

Alexandra Rosenfeld, Miss France and Miss Europe 2006

The competition for Miss Europe 2006 was the third and last since 2003, organized by Endemol , an international television production and development company based in the Netherlands. The 2004 election was canceled. Endemol also produced the television broadcast.

The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with Endemol. It does not always have to be the first place in your national competition.

The event took place on October 27, 2006 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev . There were 33 applicants.

Follow-up events

Elections announced for Moscow in 2007 and Beirut in 2008 and 2009 did not take place. After that, nothing more was heard of this competition.

In the following years there were numerous competitions with similar sounding names :

  • Miss European 2000-2015
  • Miss European Union 2004–?
  • Miss Europe Continental since 2013
  • Miss Europe World since 2015

This leads to the conclusion that the title and brand Miss Europe® were still owned by Endemol and that other organizers were forced to circumvent the trademark protection in this way.

It was not until 2016 that there was another election for Miss Europe, organized by a Miss Europe Organization based in London , later Edinburgh . Photos of the winners from 2016 and 2017 show them with the same crown that the winners wore from 2003 to 2006. This is apparently intended to establish, or at least suggest, a continuity to the earlier events.
