Miss Europe 1968
The Miss Europe 1968 competition was the twentieth since 1948 that the Mondial Events Organization (MEO) held (the event was canceled in 1951). The organization was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and organized the competition until 2002.
The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO.
The competition was originally supposed to be held in Nice in the south of France in May of that year , as in the previous three years. But it was postponed because of the unrest in France. The Democratic Republic of the Congo volunteered to host the event to promote the country. The Minister for Culture, Paul Mushiete , in particular , campaigned for it.
The event therefore took place on September 23, 1968 in the Congolese capital Kinshasa . There were 21 applicants.
