The Miss Europe 1973 competition was the twenty-fifth since 1948 that the Mondial Events Organization (MEO) organized. It was founded by the French Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr, was based in Paris and organized the competition until 2002.

The candidates had been selected in their countries of origin by national organizing committees that had concluded license agreements with MEO.

The event was originally supposed to take place in Germany in September 1973, then in Turkey. Both dates have been postponed. After all, the competition did not take place until January 23, 1974 in the Austrian winter sports resort of Kitzbühel . There were 18 applicants.
