NGC 5314 is a 13.9 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 435 million light years from the Milky Way and about 125,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered on April 8, 1886 by Lewis A. Swift , who noted "... the 2 components of a D * point to it" and "An eF * v close; ...".
