NGC 5331 is an interacting pair of galaxies in the constellation Virgo , which is approximately 450 million light years from the Milky Way . The centers of the two galaxies are less than 30 "apart.
The object was discovered on May 13, 1793 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
