NGC 5347 is a 12.6 mag bright bar-spiral galaxy Seyfert galaxy with active galaxy cores of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is an estimated 107 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 50,000 ly.
Together with M 94 , NGC 4228 , NGC 4244 , NGC 4395 and NGC 4449 , it is a member of the Canes Venatici (I) group .
The object was discovered on May 2, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "F, pL, lbM".
