NGC 5349 is a 14.1 mag bright bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type "SBb" in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is an estimated 260 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5341 , NGC 5351 , IC 4339 , IC 4340 .
The object was discovered on March 24, 1857 by RJ Mitchell , an assistant to William Parsons .
