NGC 5340 is a 14.7 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S in the constellation Little Bear . It is estimated to be 489 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on May 6, 1886 .
