NGC 5318 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 196 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on May 2, 1785 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7 inch mirror telescope.
