NGC 5354 is an 11.5 mag bright lens-shaped galaxy with an active galaxy core (LINER-type) of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Hounds and about 119 million ly from Earth. It was discovered on January 14, 1788 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who marked it with “Two. Both pB, S, R, 2 ′ distant in the same meridian ”.

NGC 5354 does not form a gravitationally bound and interacting double galaxy with NGC 5353 . Even if they seem to stand together optically, NGC 5354 is more than 10 million light years behind NGC 5353. Both together are part of a galaxy group also known as the Hickson Compact Group 68 . This group includes the galaxies NGC 5311 , NGC 5313 , NGC 5350 , NGC 5355 and NGC 5358 .
