NGC 5527 is a 14.4 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . It is an estimated 367 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5517 , NGC 5529 , NGC 5544 , NGC 5557 .

The object was discovered on April 19, 1882 by RJ Mitchell , an assistant to William Parsons . Mitchell's note “working here” has led to several mix-ups with PGC 50868 , PGC 50925 or even NGC 5524 .
