NGC 7096 = IC 5121 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Indians in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 106 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years across.
The galaxy IC 5120 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on August 31, 1836 by the astronomer John Herschel with his 18.7-inch reflector telescope and was later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
