Naples is a town in Cumberland County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 3872 inhabitants in 3004 households on an area of 96.5 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Naples has a total area of 96.5 km², of which 82.4 km² is land and 14.1 km² is water.
Geographical location
Naples is located in the northwestern part of Cumberland County at the south end of Long Lake . The Crooked River , with its winding course, forms the eastern border of the town, with the exception of a small area that extends eastward over the Crooked River. To the south of Long Lake is the Brandy Pond , to the west of this is the Trickey Pond and parallel to this to the west, the Sebago Lake with its extension, the Sebago Cove , protrudes into the area of the Town. Another large lake is Peabody Pond to the west . The surface of the area is slightly hilly. The highest point is the 209 m high Byrons Hill in the northwest of Napels.

history
Naples was settled in 1790 and officially recognized in 1834. In 1845 and 1856 further land, which until then belonged to Sebago , Otisfield and Bridgton, was added to the town. In the late 19th century a can factory, tailors, and coach and shoemakers were the main branches of business, but tourism also played an important role in the history of the place. It is known that Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow appreciated the place as a destination. Naples has been a rapidly growing town in the last few decades. Between 1970 and 1980 the population almost doubled, between 1980 and 2010 this number more than doubled.

Parks
The Sebago Lake State Park was opened to the public in the year 1938th It is one of the original five state parks. It is located north of Sebago Lake , the deepest and second largest lake in Maine. It covers 1400 acres (5.67 km²).
Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The US Highway 302 extends from the southeast to the northwest through the area of Naples. It connects Naples in the north with Bridgton and in the south with Portland.
Public facilities
There are no medical facilities in Naples. These and also hospitals can be found in Brigton, Norway and South Paris.
Naples has a public library. The Naples Public Library is located on the Roosevelt Trail in Naples.

Naples is part of the Maine School Administrative District 61 , along with Bridgton, Casco and Sebago .
