Niels Peder Christian Holsøe
Niels Peder Christian Holsøe (born November 27, 1826 in Øster Egesborg - January 1, 1895 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish architect .
family
Niels Peder Christian Holsøe was the son of pastor Lauritz Christian Holsøe (1789–1862) and Vilhelmine Euphrosyne Margrethe nee. Feddersen (1797–1871). He married Emilie Charlotte Klentz on May 15, 1862 in Frederiksberg (August 3, 1833 in Copenhagen - November 1, 1905 in Lyngby), daughter of master baker Gotfred Christian Vilhelm Klentz and Ane Cathrine Drastrup. He was the father of the painters Carl and Niels Holsøe and the uncle of the architect Poul Holsøe . In 1849-1850 he took part in the First Schleswig-Holstein War . Holsøe is buried in the Old Cemetery in Frederiksberg.
education
Holsøe started out as a bricklayer. He made his journeyman's certificate in 1846. With Gustav Friedrich von Hetsch he learned to draw in private lessons and then attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen from 1842 to 1849 and 1851–1852. In 1853 he completed his studies. After graduating, he worked with Bernhard Seidelin, for whom he was employed as a construction manager at the town hall in Helsingør from 1853 to 1855. His acquaintance with Johan Daniel Herholdt and his predilection for architecture shaped by the Italian Renaissance left a lasting impression on Holsøe's work.
In 1859 he went on an educational trip abroad.
Career
From 1855 he was self-employed and built post houses, among other things. From 1861 to 1891 he was an employee of the Ministry of the Interior and controlled the Danish railways . During this time he built most of the brick railway stations in Jutland and on Funen . An eye disease forced him to retire in 1892.
