Nils Jens van 't Hoenderdaal (born October 3, 1993 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch cyclist who is mainly active on the track .
Athletic career
In 2012, Nils van 't Hoenderdaal was the Dutch runner-up in Keirin . At the national track championships the following year, he finished fourth in both the Keirin and the Sprint . In January 2014 he won the team sprint together with Hugo Haak and Matthijs Büchli at the third round of the Track Cycling World Cup 2013/14 in Guadalajara . At the European Track Championships (U23) 2014 van 't Hoenderdaal won the gold medal in the team sprint together with Büchli and Jeffrey Hoogland . 2015 he was in the Swiss Grenchen together with Hoogland and Haak European champion of the elite in the team sprint.
In 2016 van 't Hoenderdaal was nominated to start the team sprint at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . Together with Jeffrey Hoogland and Theo Bos , he finished sixth. In 2018 he was both world champion (with Harrie Lavreysen , Matthijs Büchli and Hoogland) and European champion (with Lavreysen, Roy van den Berg and Hoogland) in the team sprint. The four drivers also won the team sprint at the 2019 European Games together .
Awards
In December 2018 Nils van 't Hoenderdaal was named the Dutch " Team of the Year " together with Matthijs Büchli, Harrie Lavreysen, Jeffrey Hoogland and Roy van den Berg . The Jaap Eden Trofee was presented to them by soccer player Rafael van der Vaart .
