Pluviôse
The Pluviôse (also Pluviose ; German also rain month) is the fifth month of the republican calendar of the French Revolution . It follows the Nivôse , it follows the Ventôse .
The name is derived from the Latin pluviosus (hence French pluvieux ), rainy. The Pluviôse is the second month of the winter quarter ( mois d'hiver ) and thus the fifth month of the French revolutionary year. It starts around January 23rd and ends around February 21st .
Day names
Like all months of the French Revolutionary Calendar, the Pluviôse had 30 days, which were divided into three decades. The days were named after agricultural crops, with the exception of the fifth and tenth days of each decade. The fifth days (Quintidi) were named after a pet, the tenth days (Decadi) after an agricultural implement.

Conversion example
The 10th Pluviôse X is to be determined .
The year X is in the middle table, below it the Gregorian year 1802 . Under the 10th (top line of the day) is the 30th. Since this is before the month transition (31st → 1st), January is meant.
So the Gregorian date is January 30, 1802 .
