The 1933 season of the Primera División was the 30th season (the 2nd of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .
The Primera División consisted of ten clubs in the championship season of 1933, whose teams met three times in a total of 135 championship games. There were 27 game days. The championship played out until November 1934. After Nacional Montevideo was tied with Club Atlético Peñarol at the top of the table in the final table after the 27th matchday , three play-offs were played between the teams of the two clubs to win the Uruguayan champions To be determined in 1933. The meetings scheduled on May 27, 1934 and September 2, 1934 at the Estadio Centenario each ended in a goalless draw. The first game in front of 42,000 spectators was initially canceled by substitute referee Luis Scandroglio due to the falling darkness , after the national players José Nasazzi , Ulises Chifflet and Juan Miguel Labraga after a controversial goal for Peñarol by Braulio Castro in the 71st minute of the game and subsequent dispute with the referee, who was subsequently unable to continue the game management, had been expelled from the field. After the game was abandoned, both the goal and the expulsion for Chifflet were subsequently canceled by the league commission. The remaining 20 minutes plus two extensions totaling 60 minutes were played on August 25, 1934 in front of empty stands. In the regular second final game on September 2, 1934, the renewed two-time extra time by a total of one hour also did not result in a goal for either of the two opponents. The third final game then decided on November 18, 1934 in front of 35,000 spectators Nacional Montevideo 3-2 in his favor. All three goals for the "Bolsos" trained by Américo Szigeti , who thus secured the championship title, were scored by Héctor Castro .
