The 1974 season of the Primera División was the 71st season (the 43rd of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted in the championship season of 1974 from twelve clubs, whose teams met twice in a total of 132 championship games played from the end of August to the second half of December of the year. There were 367 goals. Club Atlético Peñarol won the championship as first in the table ahead of Nacional Montevideo and Liverpool FC as second and third in the season's final table . Bella Vista was relegated to the Segunda División . Peñarol and the Montevideo Wanderers qualified for the 1975 Copa Libertadores .

The top scorer was Fernando Morena from master Peñarol with 27 goals .
