The area Rumney Marsh Reservation is a State Park designated habitat zone in Saugus and Revere in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . The park is administered by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and is part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston .
The more than 600 acres (2.4 km²) recreational and nature reserve consists almost entirely of salt marshes and is located within the estuary of the Saugus River and Pines River . Migratory birds and aquatic life in particular find a retreat here. The DCR identifies it as an “Area of Critical Environmental Concern”.
Recreational and leisure activities
Water sports ( boats and kayaks ), bird watching , fishing, and hiking are particularly popular in the park .
