The Breakheart Reservation area is a designated state park in the area of ​​the cities of Saugus and Wakefield in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . The park is administered by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and is part of the Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston .

The 640  acres (2.6  km² ) park consists mostly of forest and is mainly used for bird watching , fishing and hiking . But there are also opportunities for mountain biking, swimming , a specially designated area for dogs as well as public toilets and first aid facilities.

The park has two drinking water lakes ( Silver Lake and Pearce Lake ) and the Saugus River flows through it. The sanctuary's seven rocky hills offer good views of Boston , central Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire .

On August 11, 2003, the Breakheart Reservation Parkways located in the reserve were entered in the National Register of Historic Places as Breakheart Reservation Parkways-Metropolitan Park System of Greater Boston . The system of parkways was designed by Charles Eliot and consists of Forest Street, Pine Tops Road, Elm Road and Hemlock Road.
