The Santa Isabel de Siguas district is located in the Arequipa Province in the Arequipa region in southwestern Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​183 km². The 2017 census counted 771 residents. In 1993 the population was 1179, in 2007 it was 1246. The district administration is located in the village of Sóndor, 1470  m above sea level . Sóndor is about 60 km west-northwest of the provincial and regional capital Arequipa .

Geographical location

The Santa Isabel de Siguas district is located in the far west of the Arequipa province. The Río Siguas, right tributary of the Río Vítor , crosses the district in a southerly direction.

The Santa Isabel de Siguas district borders on the Majes district in the west, the Lluta district in the northwest, the Huanca district in the northeast (all three of the above-mentioned districts belong to the Caylloma province ), the Vítor district in the east and the Vítor district in the south districts Santa Rita de Siguas and San Juan de Siguas .
