Schaworonkowo ( Russian Жаворонково , German  Gerwischken , 1938 to 1945 Richtfelde , Lithuanian Gerviškiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gusev in Gusevsky District .

Geographical location

Schaworonkowo is eight kilometers southwest of the city of Gussew (Gumbinnen) on the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ). The next train station is Gusew on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoye railway , a section of the former Prussian Eastern Railway for onward travel to Moscow .

history

Before 1945, Gerwischken , founded around 1554, consisted of widely scattered large and small farms. Between 1874 and 1945 the village was part of the district of Nemmersdorf (today Russian: Mayakovskoye) in the district of Gumbinnen within the government district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

For political and ideological reasons, Gerwischken was renamed "Richtfelde" on June 3rd - officially confirmed on July 16th - of the year 1938. In 1945 the village came to the Soviet Union as a result of the war with all of northern East Prussia .

In 1950 the village was given the Russian name "Schaworonkowo" and was assigned to the village soviet Mayakovsky selski Soweet in Gusew Rajon . From 2008 to 2013 Shavoronkowo belonged to the rural municipality Mayakowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Gusew.

Due to its predominantly Protestant population, Gerwischken resp. Richtfelde parish up to 1945 in the parish of the church Nemmersdorf (today Russian: Mayakowskoje). It was part of the church district Gumbinnen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Schaworonkowo is located in the catchment area of ​​the newly established Evangelical Lutheran congregation of the Salzburg Church in Gussew (Gumbinnen) , which belongs to the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
