The Scottish League Challenge Cup was played for the 15th time in 2005/06 . The Scottish football competition, officially known as Bell's Challenge Cup was held, began on 30 July 2005 and ended with the final on November 5, 2005 at the Excelsior Stadium of Airdrie . Defending champion was FC Falkirk , who beat Ross County in the previous year's final . The clubs of the Scottish Football League took part in the competition. In this year's final, FC St. Mirren beat Hamilton Academical and won the Challenge Cup for the first time in the club's history.
